Connect your domain name with DNS

On this page are the steps you will take to connect your domain name with my web server. Please do NOT complete these steps until I ask you to do so - we want to make sure your domain is "hosted" on my server BEFORE you edit your domain's DNS settings.

Connecting your domain through DNS is preferred over simply "forwarding" your domain like we used to do - back in the dark ages of 2014. Forwarding your domain cancels out all the features that make your website "responsive" to today's devices - especially tablets and phones.

If you are uncomfortable logging into your Godaddy account, feel free to email me privately with your login details and I will handle this for you.

1. Log into your Godaddy account to manage a domain

After you log in, you should see a screen similar to this one. Click the "Manage" button in the Domains section.

2. Look for the little gear icon on the domain you want to manage

If you have multiple domains, they may be laid out like cards on your screen - usually alphabetically. They may also appear in table form. Find the gear icon (which typically means "settings") and click on it to see your options. Click on "Manage DNS."

3. Click the pencil icon for the "A" record

4. Enter the PLS server IP address in the box

You're editing only one box here - the "Points to" box. Make sure you delete the original contents of this box first. Then carefully type our IP address into the box: 68.178.254.190

Be sure to click the SAVE button!!!
